Titus 1: 7-9 Since an overseer manages God's household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. [8] Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. [9] He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
Observation
I just wanted to do my life journal, a little Bible reading, write and share some thoughts.
Then I hit Titus and it's feeling like a pop quiz. I'm an overseer, helping manage God's household and all the sudden I find myself in the middle of this quiz. Let's see how I do.
1] must be blameless - I'll claim the blood of Jesus and say, "Yep" [Blameless not sinless]
2] not overbearing- I don't think so.
3] not quick-tempered- seldom
4] not given to drunkenness - can't remember the last time [that's a good thing]
5] not pursuing dishonest gain - I don't think I'm even trying to pursue honest gain.
8] hospitable - let's party
9] loves what is good, YEP [and feeling pretty good about the quiz right now]
10] self-controlled - OUCH - is this graded on a curve, I'm doing terrible here.
11] upright - it's more like uptight
12] holy - [did I really say I'm feeling good about this quiz?] - need to work on holy
13] disciplined - perhaps more than most, but not enough on any given day.
14] hold firm to the trustworthy message - [back on track] - great marketeer of the gospel.
15] encourager - love cheerleading
16] refuter - poor at debating
Application
BOTTOM LINE: I'm a work in progress.
GOAL: With God's help through the power of the Holy Spirit, lets work on: SELF-CONTROL.
Prayer
Father,
Thanks for quiz, for the wake-up call.
May I grow in your love, and allow you to make me into the person you'd have me to be.
I'm excited about the progress you've made it my life, I looking forward to what I will become.
Self-control, holy, and disciplined - show me the way. Make me more like Jesus.
[For those of you that read my blogs, here is a great opportunity to pray for me.]
