Eph. 3:14-21 [14] For this reason I kneel before the Father, [15] from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. [16] I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, [17] so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, [18] may have power, together with all the Lord's people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, [19] and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
[20] Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, [21] to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
“Glorious riches” - I cannot begin to imagine what His riches are, but I love to sit for a moment and soak in the fact that they are glorious.
“Strengthen you with power” - what did Paul mean by “power” - will, desire, presence, energy, essence - what was it that Paul wanted the Ephesians to have more of?
Whatever “power” gets defined as, we need it, [v.17] “so that” - Christ “may” dwell in your heart through faith.
As Paul continues his prayer for the Ephesians he says, “being” rooted and established in love. “being” - is continuous, it is not that they “are” rooted and established, it is not a done deal, they are “being” - on going. Being established in love, Paul once again speaks of “power” - the power to grasp how great God’s love is, the power to know this love, the power to be filled with this love.
And then Paul ended the prayer, speaking of the “power” one last time. “His power” that is at work within us. “His power” - not the Ephesian’s power” - not my power.
I am going to claim this prayer for myself. And I’m going to claim those special words and phrases. Glorious riches, power, being rooted and established, and last but not least, “his power.
And in that, may you be glorified.

Observation

Prayer
These verses are my prayer dear Lord, as Paul prayed them over the Ephesians so many years ago. This day I claim them for myself, your glorious riches, power, the belief that I am “being” rooted and established in your love, let me experience your power in my life.And in that, may you be glorified.
