1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-8 [MSG]
4 Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head, 5 Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, 6 Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, 7 Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. 8 Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit
OBSERVATION
THIS ISN'T A LIST OF DO'S AND DON'TS, It's the attributes of being transformed into Jesus' likeness. Not giving up isn't something Jesus did, it's who he was - FOCUSED on the Father's will. Putting others first - Phil. 2:6-10 - it doesn't get better than that.
APPLICATION
In today's reading it also said to "trust God always" - I'm trusting Him to make me more like Jesus.
PRAYER
Father,
You like the psalmist let me ask; "Create in me a clean heart oh God, renew within me a right spirit". I don't want "trusting" you to be something I do, kick it up a notch for me; make it who I am

I am impressed with v.8 in the NIV, "Love never fails." Eph. 5:2 reminds me to live a life of love (NIV)or to walk in love (ESV). I could live a life of fear, anger, bitterness, or certainly something other than love. But why should I settle for something that will fail when I could live a life of love that does not fail? I'll take success!
"God, I know why love never fails - because you are love . . . and you never fail."
