S cripture: James 1:22-25 [NLT]
22 But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
O bservation:
Discipleship is more than instruction, more than information, it’s application, it’s
accomplishment, it’s adventure.
A pplication:
A NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION: To embrace God’s Word in light of - 1 Corinthians 2:2 (NIV) For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
I will obey because Christ obeyed, I will do what Jesus did, I will do what Jesus does.
P rayer:
Father,
The Holy Spirit has placed on my heart a urgency to achieve, to accomplish, to arrive! As He works through me to accomplish that; may I reflect Jesus’ servant heart. May my “doing” do your heart good.

James 1:22-25 - cf. v.18, God gave me life through the word of truth. His words are life giving. It would be a shame to waste these words by just listening to them. Turn words into praxis. These words are transformative and dynamic; look intently and continually at the perfect law and be free by remembering and doing . . . and be blessed.
"God, please make it so in my life. Thank you for giving me birth through the very word that gave birth to all creation."
