BLACK & WHITE

TODAY'S READING: NUM. 14-16; MARK 3
Scripture
Num. 15:30 [30] “‘But anyone who sins defiantly, whether native-born or foreigner, blasphemes the LORD and must be cut off from their people. [31] Because they have despised the LORD's word and broken his commands, they must surely be cut off; their guilt remains on them.’”
Mark 3:28,29 Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven all their sins and all the blasphemies they utter. [29] But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, but is guilty of an eternal sin.”
Mark 3:34-35 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! [35] Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother.”
Observation
defiance, open resistance, bold disobedience
blaspheme, to speak irreverently about God or sacred things

When I read the verses, my mind races to the question, Have I sinned some sin, God cannot forgive?
I’m convinced it’s the wrong question. When I read the verses the question I should be asking is, When Jesus looks around am I seated in the circle? Am I doing God’s will? Am I his brother?
Application
Coming to the Scriptures, put me in the circle.
Obedience, keeps me there. In this moment I am doing God’s will.
Prayer
Father,
The devil would condemn us, and point to sins that we repeat time and time again and ask us, “How can you be a Christian?”
Jesus would remind us, “Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven all their sins, and all the blasphemies they utter.”
It’s black and white, who we listen too, is who we believe.
I choose Jesus.
