SCRIPTURE
Lev. 18,19: I am the LORD your God,
Ps. 13:3[NLT] Turn and answer me, O LORD my God! Restore the light to my eyes, or I will die.
Acts 19:32 [32] The assembly was in confusion: Some were shouting one thing, some another. Most of the people did not even know why they were there.
OBSERVATION
In Leviticus chapters 18,19; this God who has taken for himself a people, Israel, reminds them time and time again, in fact; 20 times in 2 chapters; “I am the LORD your God.
Years later the Psalmist in desperation, calls out to God; “O LORD my God!” In fact he is crying out, SHOW UP or LET ME DIE! And he trusts in God.
But it isn’t that way for everyone. In the 19th chapter of Acts, Demetrius, a silversmith who finds himself losing money, his idol sells are diminishing so he insights a riot. He gets people worked up into a frenzy. Verse 32 says the crowd was in confusion, and then this heart breaking line; “Most of the people did not even know why they were there.”
My God! I’m left with two convicting thoughts.
1] Are idol sells down? Is Jesus making such a difference today, that there is a significant decline in idol sales?
2] Who is telling people, confused people; why they are here?
APPLICATION
I call you God, my God; yet I still give time to idols. Somedays they get more of me than you do.
I call you God, my God; and in truth I should be calling you, God, our God.
If I don’t believe in You enough to share You,
If I don;t believe in You enough to share You with a confused and hurting world,
then I’ve got to wonder, do I really believe?
PRAYER
My God,
I do believe, help me in my unbelief!
Share yourself with me, and I will share you with others.
My God,
Touch a hurting and confused world,
Touch my hurting and confused world.
My God
