LATE POST: Yesterday's Reading

Reading: Judges 1-3, 1 Cor. 12

Scripture

Judges 1-3 [based on]

Observation

So somewhere between a morning Bible Study Group [6:30 am], a funeral, sermon prep, a small group meeting 7:00 pm and then ending with one-on-one mentoring from [8:30 pm to 10 pm] I’m suppose to get a Life Journal Entry in. So here’s what happened, after the funeral about 1:00 pm I come home got comfortable and start listening to Judges 1 on my computer through ITunes as I’m following along with my Bible in hand. [Now mind you I only have to read to chapter three and then jump to the New Testament for 1 chapter in Corinthians.] While at chapter 5 of Judges my Bible hits the floor... I’m sleeping. I pick up the Bible, turn off ITunes and nap. I pick Gail up from work at 3:00 pm and I get home and start reading Judges again, no ITunes this time, I make it through the chapters and finish the New Testament reading, but I’m getting nothing, nothing I can share in the little time I was wiling to give it. I had a sermon to work on, and the mentoring session to prep for and so I put the Life Journal away, not today! I didn’t write. But the reading stuck with me. Reading the first three chapters of Judges made me realize, I am Israel. Sometimes calling on God, and some times doing things in my own strength and some times ignoring God all together. And sometimes like Ehud in chapter three of Judges, I’m right in the middle of a fight. Yesterday had a lot demands on my times and for the most part there were some really victories. I need to honest, I’m not always fighting the fight all that hard. Ehud brought peace for 80 years, I hope I brought it for a couple of days. Here’s the interesting thing. Yesterday I didn’t take the time to write about my reading. But yesterday I realizing I was living my reading, in the heat of the battle, busy, busy, busy, finally I said let go, let God. And I believe what got accomplished yesterday was what God wanted accomplished.

Application

Praise God for the opportunity He gives us each day to read His Word [Sword].
And praise Him even more for the days He lets us swing it.

Prayer

Father,
The journal entry didn’t get done because I loaded up my day with way too much.
I needed to come to You sooner, and ask You, what’s important? It’s not all going to happen, so what do You want to see accomplished? LORD, teach me to seek You first, and not wait until the balls start dropping and at the same time; thanks for yesterday and the lessons learned.
