TODAY’S READING: Josh. 3-6; 1 Cor. 4
Scripture
1 Cor. 4:12b-13[12] When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; [13] when we are slandered, we answer kindly.
OBSERVATION
It’s not the kind of thing you wake up looking for but when it comes your way it’s a good thing. Paul shows us how we ought to react in certain situations. When we are cursed, we should bless the person[s] cursing us. When we are persecuted, we are to take it, and when we are slandered, we are to be nice. The verse explains the "what" we are to do. We need to spend some time reflecting about who the "we" are.
Application
So, I’ve decided to give my self a little litmus test. On a scale of one to five, how am I doing with blessing others, enduring when mistreated, and being nice when slandered?
I’ve also decided to put my answers in a nice black font.
And in reflecting on the "we" - I’m reminded that "we" aren’t suppose to do this journey alone.
Prayer
Father,
Thank you for the "pop quizzes" from time to time.
For times of reflection.
With the help of the Holy Spirit allow me to take on the character of Christ.
Christ who was spit upon. Christ who was crucified. Christ who is ignored by many. Christ who died for me.
