TODAY'S READING:
Judges 17,18;
Ps. 89; 2 Cor. 3
SCRIPTURE[S]
2 Cor. 3:16-18 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. [17] Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. [18] And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate* the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Judges 18:1 In those days Israel had no king.
OBSERVATION
Read chapters 17,18 of Judges and you will end up shaking your head. How did they miss it? How could they act the way they did? How?
Read 2 Cor 3: 16-18 and get just a taste of how relationship with God ought to be. With ever-increasing glory - being transformed.
What a contrast?
APPLICATION
On any given day, I am "Israel" without a King, without a LORD, doing my own thing, it seems to be my default. Pride, selfishness, arrogance, - self-satisfying and I miss out.
I miss out on experiencing being transformed into his image.
Kendall Payne wrote a song entitled "fail" that is really about a couple.
I choose to play part of it over and over in my mind as a reflection of my relationship with Jesus somedays, sometimes.
And I will fail you, I will fail you again and again and again
But we will learn to love in spite of failure
Yes we will learn to love because of failure
And we will stay together
We are broken human fools, we are selfish, we are cruel
But there is hope for the exception to someday become the rule
Let it start with me, let it start with you

PRAYER
Holy Spirit,
Turn my face to Jesus,
And when I turn away, and I will
Turn my face to Jesus
