WHEN YOU

TODAY'S READING:
1 Sam. 22; Ps. 17,35; Mt. 6

SCRIPTURE

Mt. 6:2 So when you give to the needy...
Mt. 6:3 But when you give to the needy...
Mt. 6:5 And when you pray, ...
Mt. 6:6 But when you pray...
Mt. 6:7 And when you pray...
Mt. 6:16 When you fast...
Mt. 6:17 But when you fast...

OBSERVATION

The Sermon on the Mount is Jesus giving lots of do's and don't. I chose to give attention to the things Jesus just assumed we are going. Giving to the needy, praying, and fasting. This is like the "red letter" stuff, "Jesus' sayings", it is all important. I choose to think that which Jesus assumes is the most important. Giving, Prayer, and Fasting. WHEN YOU...

APPLICATION

Give to others, Pray to God, Give up something.
I'm going to be intentional about giving to the needy.
I'm going to time spend in prayer, and pray the way Jesus laid it out in Mt. 6.
I'm going to participate in different fasts, and it probably won't be foods.
How about a "cell phone" fast, leaving it off and spending time with JC.
How about a "TV" fast, spending sometime reading the Bible.
How about a "internet" fast, spending some time with family and friends.
How about a "golf" fast, - yeah right, - WHEN?

PRAYER

Holy Spirit,
Thank you for challenging me while I spend time reading Your Word.
Open my eyes to need, the greatest need is for unsaved people to know Jesus.
Put me in the lives of such people.
Guide my prayer life. Allow me to experience God's presence more often.
Encourage me to fast in any number of ways that would bring honor and glory to God.
