MOST

MOST TODAY'S READING: Hosea 2-5; Hebrews 2

Scripture

Heb. 2:1 We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

Observation

I am struck by how this verse tells us that we must pay the most careful attention.
Why most careful attention, why not just careful attention, why most? Then I went back to basics and looked up the meaning of most: much; greatest in amount or degree; nearly all of; the greatest extent; extremely.
So hear the verse again, We must [there's a word to spend some time with] pay the most:
much careful attention
greatest amount of careful attention
nearly all careful attention
the greatest extent careful attention
extreme careful attention
to what we have heard [need to spend some time here, what is it that I've heard?]
so that we do not drift away. So that we do not drift away, it seems to be that there is almost a greater tragedy that loosing your faith - drifting away from it.

Application

For me to make the most of paying careful attention, I need to renew my commitment to time spend reading God's word, meditating on it, journaling insights that the Holy Spirit reveals to me, and intentional share those truths, most often by just living them, as opposed to talking about them.

Prayer

Father,
Again, thank you for your Word.
Holy Spirit,
Again, thank you for challenging me.
Jesus,
Again, thank you for loving me, so I've heard.
