THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT!

TODAY’S READING:
Deut. 28.29; Gal. 6

Scripture

Gal. 6:7-10 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. People reap what they sow. [8] Those who sow to please their sinful nature, from that nature* will reap destruction; those who sow to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. [9] Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. [10] Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Observation

In today's reading of the Hebrew Scriptures** Moses is telling the Israelites in chapters 28 and 29 the pluses and minuses of keeping the commands and covenant. The pluses are big pluses, the minuses - ouch you don't want to go there. I think Paul in doing the same thing here in Galatians chapter 6, Paul just does it with less words.

Application

So the long and short of it. Read the text for the long, here's the short of it:
PLAY YOU PAY / OBEY AND STAY, stay in God's will, don't give up, hang in there, don't grow weary - Do good! Especially to family.

Prayer

Father,
Equip me, Enable me, Encourage Me, Excite Me, and Extend your grace to me
Gal. 6:16 says: Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule— the Israel of God.
That' us, "the Israel of God" - children of God -

**From the Book: Jesus 4 President by Shane Claiborne/Chris Haw: We will use the term Hebrew Scriptures for the first 39 books of the Bible, preferring it to the Old Testament, which implies that these books are outdated or invalidated by the New Testament; rather than seeing the New Testament as the fulfillment and continual unfolding of the biblical narrative.
