WHERE WILL YOU TURN?

TODAY'S READING: 1 Sam. 30,31; 1 Chr.10; Mt. 12

SCRIPTURE

1 Sam. 30: 4 So David and his men wept aloud until they had not strength left to weep.
1 Sam. 30: 6c But David found strength in the LORD his God.
1 Sam. 30: 8 and David inquired of the LORD, "Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?
OBSERVATION

David and his men on return to their homes find it destroyed by fire, and their wives, sons and daughters taken captive. And they weep. They wept so intensely that they lost their strength. And then David finds his strength. He finds it in the LORD. He finds it in his God.
Then he talks to the LORD, Should I fight back? Will I win? And God answers, Pursue them, it will turn out right!

APPLICATION
We've coined it "habitual sin"; that thing or things that rob the best of us. That leaves us without. That leaves us weeping. For some it's food we shouldn't be indulging in, for others it alcohol, for others pornography, or drugs, or work, or wanting, you name it. What raids you of your joy? What steals from you the person you want to be? What is destroying your relationships with friends, and family? What leaves you crying? CLAIM GOD'S WORD! Find your strength in Him.
Inquire of Him? LORD, if I pursue this battle, will you help me win? And hear Him proclaim, "Pursue it, fight the fight, again and again, it will turn out alright!"

PRAYER

Father,
No one knows better than you, my struggles.
No one knows what makes me weep, leaves me feeling hurt, doubting, defeated.
I call on You today, as it says in 1 Sam. 30 - I inquired of the LORD.
Give me the strength I need for today.
I've proved I can not beat that which defeats me, and leaves me depressed.
You've proved, I can if I allow you to lead the fight.
Today, I shall follow You.
Be my God, I turn to You.
