TODAY'S READING:
2 Sam. 8,9; 1 Chr. 18,19; Mt. 21
Scripture
Matt. 21: 43,44: "Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to people who will produce its fruit. [44] Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but anyone on whom it falls will be crushed."
Observation
In the context of the parable, Jesus is telling the Pharisees, that what has been given to them, they are about to lose. The Pharisees think they are going to lose their "religious system" when what they are going to lose is the opportunity to be in relationship with their Savior. They are clinging to religion when God wants to give them relationship.
I hope I've got this one right, v.44 - the stone is Jesus. When we fall on Him we become broken, when He falls on us we become crushed.
TRANSFORMATION is about changing the old and creating new.
TRANSFORMATION is about breaking, crushing
TRANSFORMATION is about producing fruit.
Application
So the questions, "Am I right about the stone being a metaphor for Jesus?
And if I'm right about the need to be broken, or crushed. Does He want to do that to us as individuals or corporately? or both?"
Prayer
Holy Spirit,
I'm trusting you that my interpretation of this Scripture is correct.
I don't want to miss the lesson like the Pharisees did.
I want Jesus.
I want Jesus to break me, crush me, - do whatever it takes to produce fruit, lots of fruit.

Do you think this verse is meant specifically as individual or corporate? In it's actual content, it may have been meant to include all of the religious leaders because they were all on the same wave length, but as a message for future generations, I think it speaks to each of us as individuals. Sometimes we have to be completely humbled before we realize that we need to trust and lean on Jesus and not on our own power.
