THE LOOK OF GENIUNE PRAYER

SCRIPTURE
Matt. 6:6-8 [Message]
Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7 “The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. 8 Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need.
Matt. 6:6-8 [NLT]
But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. 7 "When you pray, don't babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Don't be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!

OBSERVATION
GET ALONE! GET HUMBLE! GET GOD! GET GRACE!
...The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.

APPLICATION
I wish I knew how to add sound bites - I don't! So let me just type out the words of some lyrics I've been listening to as I've been meditating on this Scripture:

:God is bigger than the air I breathe / The world we'll leave / God will save the day and all will say /My glorious!

:I am nothing, yet You bid me / Come to You, O Lord Almighty / As I come I'm overwhelmed with You. / Humbly now I break the silence / As I'm weeping in Your presence / I'm so wretched, overwhelmed with You.

: Give me one pure and holy passion / Give me on magnificent obsession / Give me one glorious ambition for my life / To know and follow hard after You

:So remember Your people / Remember Your children / Remember Your promise / Oh God / Your grace is enough / Your grace is enough / Your grace is enough for me

PRAYER
In the name of Jesus, Father be glorified by the time we spent together - in thoughts, words, songs and tears. Let's do it again really soon - because everyday - "your grace is enough" - and so I pray.
