It's FRIDAY, Sunday's Comin

REFERENCE
Psalm 66:12 [ESV] you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.
Psalm 66:12 [Message] Road-tested us inside and out, took us to hell and back; Finally he brought us to this well-watered place.

EXPLORATION
Tony Campolo has a great book entitled; “It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Coming” and in it he tells the story of a Good Friday Service where his pastor used this one phrase over and over. “It’s Friday and Sunday is Coming” - “It was Friday and Mary was cryin’ her eyes out. The disciples were runnin’ in every direction, like sheep without a shepherd, but that was Friday, and Sunday’s coming... It was Friday. The cynics were lookin’ at the world and sayin’, ‘As things have been so they shall be. You can’t change anything in this world; you can’t change anything.’ But those cynics didn’t know that it was only Friday, Sunday’s coming”! ...
Isn’t that how life plays out. We feel hemmed in by life, it’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming.
We experience burden, it’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming. People treat us unjustly, it’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming. One threatening circumstance follows another, it’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming.
2 Cor. 4:16-5:1 [ESV] So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

APPLICATION
Live for Sunday!
Know I am headed to a place of abundance.

PRAYER
Father,
Bring what trial you may, just keep me from temptation today.
Help me to see beyond the trial to the treasure.
Help me see beyond the moment to the Master.
